Description

Delicious homemade heart-shaped pop tarts filled with strawberry spread and topped with sweet icing and Valentine sprinkles.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box Pillsbury Store Bought Pre-Made Pie Crusts
  • 1 jar Strawberry Fruit Spread
  • 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp Milk
  • Valentine Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Set the two pre-made pie crusts out. Once they have reached room temperature, unroll one of the pie crusts and press a heart shaped cookie cutter into the crust as many times as you can.
  3. Transfer the hearts to the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Spoon the fruit spread into the centers of the hearts. Make sure it doesn’t go all the way to the edge, you’ll need room to seal the pop tarts.
  5. Using the heart shaped cookie cutter again, cut an equal number of hearts out of the second crust and place them over the top of the fruit spread. Seal the edges with a fork.
  6. Place them in the oven for 10-12 minutes.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool.
  8. Once cooled, make the icing by combining the powdered sugar and milk. You don’t want the icing too thick or too thin, so you may have to adjust so it isn’t too runny on the pop tart. To make thicker, add powdered sugar. To make thinner, add milk.
  9. Spoon the icing onto the center of the pop tart and gently move icing around the top, stopping just before the fork marks.
  10. Let sit for a minute or two, then sprinkle with Valentine sprinkles. (Note: If you add sprinkles too soon they will just sink into the icing. You want them to sit on top of the icing nicely.)

Notes
