Description

Delicious and simple glazed baby potatoes, perfect as a side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) baby potatoes, halved or quartered
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup (or honey)
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil (vegetable or canola)
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Rinse and cut the baby potatoes into bite-sized pieces. Set aside.
  2. Heat neutral oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the potatoes and sauté for 3-4 minutes until the edges start to turn golden.
  3. Add minced garlic to the pan and stir for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in water, soy sauce, sugar, and maple syrup. Mix well and bring to a simmer.
  5. Cover and cook for 15-18 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are tender and most of the liquid has reduced to a glaze.
  6. Stir in sesame oil. Garnish with green onion and sesame seeds before serving.
