Description

This recipe for smoked chicken wings features a perfectly balanced dry rub and a two-step cooking process for deliciously crispy wings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 pounds chicken wings
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar or sweetener
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to 225 degrees.
  2. Pat the chicken wings dry. Sprinkle the dry rub throughout.
  3. Coat the grill grates on the smoker in olive oil using a cooking brush or towels to prevent sticking.
  4. Place the wings on the smoker. Smoke for 2 hours.
  5. After 2 hours, adjust the temperature to 350 degrees. Cook for an additional 15-30 minutes until crisp, flipping halfway through.
  6. If you like sauced wings, you can add the sauce during this step.
  7. Remove the wings. Cool before serving.

Notes

  • You can use whole chicken wings if preferred.
  • Wings can be adjusted to personal taste with different seasonings or sauces.
