Description
This delightful mixed nut praline is a sweet and crunchy treat, perfect for snacking or gifting!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup chopped mixed nuts (such as pecans, almonds, and walnuts)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 cup crushed cookies (like digestive or graham crackers)
- 1/3 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1/3 cup white chocolate chips
- A pinch of cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Begin by preparing a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper. This will prevent the praline from sticking once set.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and butter over medium heat. Stir continuously until the mixture melts and comes to a gentle boil.
- Once boiling, allow it to bubble without stirring for about 5 minutes, or until it reaches a golden amber color. Keep a close eye on it to prevent burning.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and carefully stir in the heavy cream. Be cautious as the mixture may bubble up vigorously.
- Add the chopped mixed nuts, vanilla extract, and sea salt to the pan, stirring well to combine all the ingredients evenly.
- Quickly pour the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet. Use a spatula to spread it into an even layer, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Immediately sprinkle the crushed cookies over the warm praline mixture, ensuring an even distribution.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the dark chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. Once melted, drizzle the dark chocolate over the praline and cookie mixture.
- Repeat the melting process with the white chocolate chips and drizzle it on top of the dark chocolate for a beautiful finish.
- If desired, sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon over the top for added flavor and aroma.
- Allow the praline mixture to cool completely at room temperature for at least 1-2 hours or until it hardens.
- Once set, break the praline into pieces and store in an airtight container at room temperature.
Notes
- This recipe yields deliciously crunchy praline pieces that can be stored for a week at room temperature.
