Ingredients

- 4 cups bread flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 cup sun dried tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Cornmeal, for dusting
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add the bread flour, salt, olive oil, and chopped sun dried tomatoes to the yeast mixture. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough into a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and bring a large pot of water to a boil.
- Punch down the dough, divide it into 8 pieces, and shape each into a bagel.
- Drop each bagel into boiling water for about 1-2 minutes on each side, then place on a baking sheet dusted with cornmeal.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Let them cool before serving.
Notes
- Best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for a few days.
- For a different flavor, try adding herbs or spices to the dough.
